North Yorkshire Timber (NYTimber) has merged with Scottish timber processing and distribution company, Thornbridge, forming an enlarged timber group.
The deal was held up by investment from Cairngorm Capital Partners.
Established in 1979, North Yorkshire Timber is probably the largest independent timber merchants inside the North East of England.
In addition for offering a comprehensive choice of timber, sheet and joinery products, NYTimber contains a specialist roof solutions division which designs and fabricates roof trusses, spandrel panels, insulated roof cassettes plus the NYTROOF Rapid Fit System.
Headquartered in Northallerton, fantastic dedicated 120,000ft2 design, manufacturing and distribution centre in Brompton-on-Swale and it is backed up by seven branch outlets.
In 2017, NYTimber had revenues of more than 18 million and employed over 200 staff.
Following the merger, the enlarged group now has a recognized distribution network across Scotland and also the North of England, with a central manufacturing hub in every region, offering the platform for extra growth.
NYTimber’s roofing solutions complement and extend the Thornbridge product offering, with customers now competent to access an intensive range across timber, sheet, doorsets and roofing products.
NYTimber’s senior management team continue to steer the organization and MD Nick Kershaw will join the team Board. Founder David Cook is exiting the corporation.
The two companies will continue to be headquartered in Grangemouth and Northallerton respectively and both businesses will keep to trade under their existing brands.
The enlarged group should have 15 branches all over the UK, generating revenues that has reached over 50 million and employing over 360 people.
